ELOPEMENT + WEDDING FAQ
Q: Where are you based out of?
We are based out of San Diego but travel back to our Illinois roots often!
Q: How do we book you? Do you accept payment plans?
The retainer fee is $1,000 with the remaining balance due in two equal payments 30 and 60 days prior to the wedding day. Payments can be made with a check or online with a credit card. I also offer additional payment plan options as well upon request! The retainer locks me in for your date and is not refundable as I turn away other inquiries for your date.
Q: How many images can we expect from our engagement or wedding?
Weddings range from 500-1200 depending on the amount of coverage chosen. My most popular package among couples is 8 hours, which typically yields anywhere between 600-900 images. I don’t like to hold any images hostage and deliver as many of those pretties as I can!
Q: Who has copyright?
It is industry standard that the photographer retains the copyrights to the images. I provide my clients with personal usage rights and you’re free to share them as much as you want on social media and with family and friends!
Q: What is the turnaround time?
I work my tail off while editing because it’s gotta be perfect! For this, I do require up to 8 weeks for final deliveries of galleries. However, you’ll get a sneak peak of 25-50 images within a couple days of your wedding to drool over until you get the whole shabang! Engagement sessions are delivered within 2 weeks.
Q: Can I have unedited versions of the photos or the RAWs?
In the words of Michael Scott, “No God, please no!” But for real. If you’re hiring us, it means you like our work and if we were to provide you with RAW files, we wouldn’t be doing the work we’ve been asked to do. Also, it’s no fun having massive files of your guests blinking or sneezing taking up tons of space on your hard drive.
Q: Do we need a second shooter?
This is dependent on a few factors including guest count and where your priorities lie in what you would like photographed. If you’d like more candid photos of guests, I would highly recommend a second shooter with a guest count of 100+. A second shooter is also amazing if you’re getting ready separately!
Q: We’re really awkward in front of the camera. What if we’re not interested in an engagement session? Can we remove that from the collection?
First of all, it’s always awkward for the first 10 minutes of anything you’re not used to doing. I promise you, you’re not alone in this - the majority of my couples come to engagement sessions feeling that way. I really love engagement sessions! It gives us another opportunity to get to know one another on a deeper level and also helps me know exactly what poses work best for the two of you so I can focus on those for your wedding day. I also like to approach them with prompts that will help you feel as natural as possible - I direct you the entire time! If you’d still like to waive the engagement session, I can give a $200 discount.
Q: Do you help create a timeline for the wedding day?
Yes! It is so important to me that I help my couples understand how to make decisions about the day based on what the light will be like to give you the absolute best photos possible. To keep the flow of the day, I love collaboration on a timeline together along with attaching a family formal list for groupings so we don’t miss anyone!
Q: How do we pick photo locations?
If your wedding collection includes an engagement session, I love to help with all of the logistics that are involved, including determining the best time of day as well as sending a couple of location ideas and outfit inspiration. For weddings, I like to scope the venue beforehand if I have never been there before. Instead of worrying about location scouting during wedding coverage, I ensure that we have all of our photo locations chosen beforehand so everything is smooth sailin’ on your wedding day.
Q: Can we bring our dog to the engagement session? Can we bring props?
If you don’t bring your dog, I’ll be upset. As far as other props, if you have a desire to bring an item, be creative and choose something that’s symbolic to the two of you. Maybe you want to write each other letters to read during your engagement session? Maybe you want to have a picnic with some of your fave foods?
Q: Can we order prints?
Yes! Once you receive your gallery, you can purchase prints, framed art, save the date and thank you cards - you name it!
Q: What do we do if it’s raining on our wedding day or engagement session?
I am continuously checking the weather leading up to your engagement session and wedding day! If I feel that we may need to nail down an alternative location to keep you dry on your wedding day, I will discuss that with you. If you’re down for embracing it, I’m down with you! If the weather is expected to be less than ideal for your engagement session, I’m happy to reschedule
Q: What happens if you are unable to work on our wedding day?
I’ve photographed weddings with the flu and throughout a very ill-filled pregnancy and didn’t have any issues. Unless (knock on wood) a terrible emergency occurs, I WILL be at your wedding. I do, however, have a backup system and connections with dozens of local photographers who would be equally qualified.
Q: Can you photoshop us?
I believe in promoting self love and body positivity! I do simple skin retouching and essentially remove any blemishes that wouldn’t normally be there. If there’s something you’re self concious of, be sure to let me know and I’ll be extra aware of it when posing you!
